Letting Art Linger
from fruit juice to the wall . . .
I’ve been thinking about the creative process, especially amidst the general ‘busyness’ of life. Normally, when a new digital kit arrives, my routine is familiar, printing, cutting, creating, and then finding a home for the pieces in my journal. That book then gets closed and put away, and I’m onto the ‘next thing’.
I needed an energy shift this month and I felt a pull to do something a bit different. I wanted to find a way to let the art from the new Linger Kit literally ‘linger’ around me for a while. Allowing it to co-exist in my space rather than just being a project that gets put away once it’s complete.
I’ve put together a bit of a ‘mood board’ on my wall using the kit, and I also had a little dabble at hand-dying some papers to combine with it. It’s been so lovely to glance up from my desk and see these pieces just staying there. Moving away from the ‘finished page’ and into creating an atmosphere in my room instead has been refreshing.
I didn’t rush this, each piece was intentional and added slowly and I left it to grow on me, and to linger. In the coming days and weeks maybe things will get taken off, replaced, added to, or moved around. It will be fun to watch it evolve and see how this little shift changes my actual creative process.
I’ve already noticed a few surprises in how certain pieces are speaking to me, and I’m excited to chat with you more about that today.
Before we start, if you’re a paid subscriber and haven’t yet downloaded Linger and perused the creative prompts that Lynn and I came up with for this month you can find those in the post below.
If you haven’t upgraded your subscription yet and would like to do so, the new Linger Kit is available for download until the 28th February 2026.
Let’s take a peek at my mood board and I’ll explain where I started and where I ended up . . .
