INTRODUCING THERESA

Hi friends, I am Theresa, scrapbooker and designer!

I live in Kernersville, North Carolina, with my very dear husband and our four children ages 17 to 21. We also care for a feisty cat named Zoe, and our goofy lab Mayze.

I began scrapbooking the traditional way in 2003 when I was pregnant with my son Nick. I wanted to make my own Christmas cards that year, so I did, and then not long after that I had storage drawers in the dining room, with card stock and two stamps. And then it wasn’t long before I took over the 3rd bedroom!

I really wanted to make sure my children’s lives were well documented through photographs and great stories, and over the years I have found the value in documenting my own stories as well. I was an early participant in some of the early chat groups and forums, and decided I wanted to contribute my layouts as well, so in 2014 I started blogging and recording my process videos.

Over the years I have created a variety of classes that focus on creating strategies to complete albums, and a landmark workshop called Light The Path, designed to help survivors find ways to use their photos, art, and scrapbooking to document their own healing journeys.

These days I am super inspired by digital collections and using them to create hybrid layouts with tons of depth and dimension, always focused on telling the stories of how we made it through and where we found the points of light.

LIT UP FROM WITHIN - A HYBRID PROJECT FOR PREMIUM SUBSCRIBERS

Today, premium subscribers will be shown my multi step process for crafting a Hybrid Mixed Media Scrapbooking/Art Journaling Style Page.

Join me as I show you through video:

  • The work that goes into building a richly textured and well thought out ‘base design’ or ‘custom paper’ using digital papers, elements and techniques which will serve as my ‘canvas’ for hybrid crafting after it’s printed

  • I’ll share how I build up ‘background layers’ and why ‘layer order’ is so important

  • I’ll share some composition tips, my thoughts on using photos in art journaling and why certain elements on my page act as hidden metaphors

  • Finally I’ll share my printed custom paper and you can watch me as i add the finishing touches to my project

I can’t wait to show you the fun I had crafting this page and revealing to you the printed embellishments and my finished page!

(Free subscribers can read the full post by upgrading their subscription. You’ll also receive the current months Project Kit ‘GLOW’, available until the 30th of June, along with the past premium posts you’ve missed)
