This is love
An art/craft grounded in love, plus Yearn lands in stores
I often think how this thing we do is very much an act of love.
Like many of us, I started out recording the lives of loved ones, and each page I created felt like a gift to them and a record of my love. Nowadays, I create very much for the love of creating, but still the driver is my love of life and of the little things that I see and experience.
I started thinking about this today because it is a special day at The Lilypad, where the spotlight is on me as part of the ‘Love Our Designers’ event.
I love the collections that Suzanne chose to highlight in her thread - many of them are my own personal faves.
But it got me thinking about some of the collections of my own that I love to create with myself :-)

A COLLABORATION I LOVE
Of course, I also love Rachel and I love collaborating with her.
So it seems appropriate to share some of my favourites among our many joint creations plus pages I have made with them:
ON YEARNING
On the theme of love, our ‘Yearn’ Mixed Media Kit is now available at both The Lilypad and Oscraps.
I love the mix of soft colours, with bold black and rich gold. While it’s perfect for romantic pages - like this one with an archive photo of a loving couple on the beach in Brighton - it’s also really versatile.
I also used it for some art journaling about my yearning for London, where I have lived off and on but am unlikely to again.
The kit includes lots of interesting backgrounds, including some ‘busy’ botanical papers.
Although ‘busy’ they were easy to use by using a bold frame, creating a block of interest around the photo with paint and threads, and working with the patterned paper rather than competing with it(I found some great spots for my title and my text)
Meanwhile, Rachel found some moments of calm playing with stitching and fabric scraps plus printed elements from the Yearn kit:
This cute little miniature journal she crafted with some other bits and bobs found in her stash, combined with the Yearn Printables.
By the way, if you are keen to find out more about our creative process in making creations like these, and to join our little community, we share more in depth articles plus videos with our premium subscribers, who receive these mixed media kits for free each month.
As always, whether you are just passing by, or are interested in our shop updates or if you are already part of our subscriber community, THANK YOU for reading and sharing this creative space with us.
If you have time we’d love it if you could stop by in the comments to chat or leave us a little ‘like’, it’s a digital high five for us!
Rachel & Lynn :)
