And here are today’s challenges . . .
TINY ELEMENTS (a challenge from Lynn)
How small can you go?
On the theme of ‘the smallest things matter’, today’s challenge asks you to use tiny elements on a page.
Create a scrapbook page or mixed media artwork using small and delicate elements – this could include tiny marks and ink splatters, little buttons, tiny flowers.
The options are limitless and the guidelines loose, but the challenge is to keep any elements you do chose small – probably smaller than you normally would.
You may want to keep your photo small as I did here, or perhaps you want to play around with the contrast of a large photo combined with delicate, small elements. I chose to keep the photo small partly because it is quite a powerful and personal one in its significance so I was more comfortable with that.
I considered using just a white paper background, but in the end settled on a paper (from “The Past is Another Country”) with a very minimal pattern which filled in the white space, but not in an overpowering way.
This was somewhat a challenge for Rachel, she focused on stamps and ephemera to achieve a look she was happy with and just a few little elements and confettis. She made them much smaller than she would normally.
To help her layout feel balanced she cropped a tall thin but somewhat understated patterned paper to bring through a little more white and to add a ‘little extra something’ - it also helped to anchor the photo and elements in that area. Plus she added extra doodles here and there and chose a painted background to add additional visual interest to the area with negative space on the right hand side.
NEEDED THIS (a challenge from Rachel)
Have you ever had one of those moments where you didn’t realise you needed something so deeply until you were actually in the moment?
Your challenge is to create a page or project that focuses on one of those moments and your gratitude surrounding it.
Zapped for time this week I had a fun time working with some of Lynn’s gorgeous templates to speed up my process and I enjoyed mixing our designs together.
I documented a weeks holiday we took in the Autumn, at a time when we don’t normally take a family holiday but we booked it spontaneously to celebrate or 20th Wedding Anniversary and it was honestly the little break we didn’t know we needed!
We had such a fun family time, made loads of memories and we all came back feeling refreshed.

For Lynn, it was the opportunity to document a much needed summer break in France, the first since Covid and a very special time. She used yellow-based paper and paints from “Hear My Voice: Renewing” to reflect the optimism and sense of renewal she felt.

I lvery much appreciated the Needed This challenge as it made me realize that what I think I need is often not what I really need! Great prompt :)
I really wanted to participate more in your challenges and I only did a few. I guess it’s more than I scrapped before. Life gets in the way of fun.
